The mainstream brake pad materials are divided into:
Asbestos brake pads. Advantages: low cost, high temperature resistance, and stable braking performance. Disadvantages: The World Health Organization has identified asbestos as a Group 1 carcinogen, and the dust is highly harmful to the human body.
Semi - metallic brake pads. Advantages: good thermal conductivity, strong braking force, and wear - resistance. Disadvantages: loud noise, a lot of brake powder.
Low - metal or metal - free organic brake pads. Advantages: low noise, smooth braking force, and soft material. Disadvantages: not resistant to high temperatures, not wear - resistant, and high price.
Ceramic brake pads. Advantages: low noise, less dust, long lifespan, and low wear. Disadvantages: high price, and low braking force at low temperatures.
